The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, began on Tuesday a working visit to the United States of America as part of efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
While there until December 19, the minister will meet with high-ranking US officials, as well as representatives of financial institutions and strategic partners.
The visit aims to promote economic diplomacy, encourage the mobilization of investments, and strengthen bilateral cooperation in energy, critical minerals, infrastructure, and regional integration.
Masssano will also witness the signing of a financing agreement between the U.S. Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the Lobito Atlantic Railway (LAR).
This agreement will support the rehabilitation, modernization, and operation of the Lobito Corridor, which is considered one of the most important logistical infrastructures in Angola and the southern African region.
The DFC-promoted financing agreement for the Lobito Atlantic Railway is considered a historic transaction in the bilateral economic relationship due to its impact on the development of the Lobito Corridor and regional integration.
This development occurs within a favorable international context marked by the United States' growing strategic economic presence in Africa, as part of the Global Infrastructure and Investment Partnership.
Contributing to this goal are the advances in the peace process between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, in which Angola plays a central role, as well as the Lobito Corridor's consolidation as a strategic axis of global supply chains, particularly for critical minerals and energy.
The Angolan delegation includes Minister of Transport Ricardo de Abreu and Angolan Ambassador to the United States Agostinho Van-Dúnem.
